Living on Montauk

Working as a professional fishing guide affords me the opportunity to experience different types of angling for an array of local and migrating species.

Montauk in the Fall, referred to as the “Fall Run” is truly a phenomenon with world-wide reputation. It is a mass migration of fish that can erupt around you at any moment. When it does it can leave you speechless in disbelief, defying attempts to describe what you are seeing. It is something every angler should experience.

Montauk in the Spring and Summer offers less pressure and has offered me some of the best fishing I have ever experienced as well. Less pressure means more aggressive takes. You will find yourself buckling your seat belt for a wild ride with these Stripers and Bluefish.

Whether it’s top water Fly or Spin for Striper, Bluefish and False Albacore or bottom fishing for Black Sea Bass and Atlantic Porgy, and Fluke it’s all terrific fun and extremely rewarding.

I myself am an avid seafood lover, and if you're the same, Black Sea bass and jumbo Atlantic Porgy are two of the very best! Both fish have a bright white filet, simple to prepare and savory on the taste buds. The Black Sea bass is very delicate and flaky, while the Atlantic Porgy is more steaky and firm. Both are absolutely delicious. In a world full of fast food and over processed junk foods what could be better than knowing exactly where your dinner came from and precisely how fresh it is.

Fishing is essential to me. It's what I do; it's all I do. I have found there's only one thing on earth I enjoy more than catching a fish, is watching one of my customer catch one. They don't have to explain to me how great it feels, but I LOVE to hear them try.

There is a kind of honesty you experience in fishing. Maybe that purity is what I find so revealing. Both you and the fish are totally focused, giving your best efforts. The time spent between the two of you is very special to me.

I try to experience as much as possible, out here living my dream, in Montauk. It's all about bent rods and big smiles using light tackle and having heavy fun!

Give me a call from April through December and experience what Montauk has to offer.
